Your Journey Starts Here

At CVCA, we love and celebrate the middle school years! We see this stage as a vital launchpad for high school and beyond. Our faculty and staff walk alongside students during these formative years, providing a safe, intentional space where they can grow academically, socially, and most importantly – in their relationship with Christ.

Why Start Now?The 6th Grade Advantage

At CVCA, we believe 6th grade isn’t just an early start – it’s the perfect start, when students are discovering who they are and what their faith is all about. We want this time to help students develop a strong foundation in the Bible and build connections within our community.

Why Come to CVCA in 6th Grade?

A Smoother Transition

Starting in 6th grade allows students to find their footing in a supportive “home base” before the faster pace of high school arrives. By the time they reach 9th grade, they aren’t the “new kids” – they are confident leaders who already know our culture, our campus, and our values.

Purposeful Mentorship

Our 6th-grade teachers are specialists who truly love this age group. By starting early, your student benefits from three years of consistent mentorship from adults who aren’t just teaching subjects – they are modeling what it means to be a servant of Christ.

Developing the “C7” Foundation

We begin weaving the C7 Experience (Curiosity, Compassion, Christ-centeredness, and more) into their daily routine from day one. Starting in 6th grade gives students more time to develop these critical life skills, preparing them naturally for the academic rigors and leadership opportunities of our college-prep high school.

A Community of Belonging

With students coming from nine counties and over 200 churches, starting in 6th grade offers your child a unique opportunity to join a diverse community with one common goal: to know Christ deeply. Students walk alongside peers who share their faith with a genuine desire to follow Him

“As the youngest of a large family, I basically grew up at CVCA. I went to basketball and soccer games - cheering with the big girls. When I finished my teaching degree, I immediately thought of the Academy. Teaching here is like coming home.”

Middle School FAQ

Starting middle school is a big step for both students and parents. We’ve gathered the most common questions about daily schedules, spiritual life, and academic support to help you navigate the transition to CVCA with confidence.

What does a typical 6th-grade day look like?

Our 6th graders dive into five core classes daily: Bible, English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Their day is rounded out with “specials” like band, choir, gym, health, art, and technology – giving them a well-balanced and exciting schedule!

Is there time for a break during the school day?

Of course! We know middle schoolers need to move. All students have a designated lunchtime and free time in the middle of the day for social and physical activity.

How will my student get to school?

We make drop-off and pick-up a breeze with a distinct area right at the middle school entrance.

  • Bussing: Information from your local district is available here.
  • Public Transit: The Akron Metro has a convenient stop right at CVCA.
  • Carpooling: Our staff is happy to provide a list of other CVCA families in your area to help you coordinate carpools!

Can my middle schooler take high school credit classes?

Yes! Some students may qualify to take high school courses for credit while still in middle school. This is an exciting opportunity, but since these grades stay on a student's permanent high school transcript (the one colleges will eventually see!), we partner with families to make sure the course load is just right. Keep in mind that high school courses include cumulative final exams in December and May, which account for 20% of the semester grade. We're here to help you weigh the academic rigor to ensure your student stays balanced and successful!

Can my 6th grader take part in sports and the arts?

Absolutely! While OHSAA doesn't sponsor 6th-grade interscholastic competition, we offer plenty of great options within OHSAA regulations, including inter- and intra-school play. Plus, all middle schoolers are invited to find their stage in our performing arts courses!

Do middle school students have access to technology?

To keep our students prepared for the modern world, every middle and high school student is issued a Chromebook. We view technology as a powerful tool to enhance learning when used purposefully and safely.

Is financial aid available in middle school?

Absolutely. We want a CVCA education to be accessible:

  • Presidential Scholarships: Each year, we award 20 one-time $1,500 scholarships to top applicants.
  • Need-Based Aid: We offer tuition assistance that can cover up to 60% of the cost for qualifying families.
  • All students are eligible for the Ohio EdChoice Scholarship. Discover how much financial assistance your family qualifies for.

How is CVCA's middle school experience distinct?

Our middle school is designed to be more than just a bridge to high school; it's an innovative space where students truly find their footing. Everything we do is built around the C7 Experience, focusing on traits we want to see blossom in every student: Curiosity, Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking, Compassion, and Christ-centeredness. By weaving these seven pillars into daily life, we help our students grow in confidence and character, perfectly preparing them for the exciting rigors of our college-prep high school.

Will my middle schooler be “lost” among the high schoolers?

Not at all! Our middle schoolers have their very own dedicated space with its own entrance, state-of-the-art science labs, and even their own lunch period and lunchroom. It's the perfect balance of feeling part of a big school while having a cozy, focused space of their own.

Who will be teaching my child?

Our middle school teachers are the best of both worlds: experts in their subjects and mentors at heart. They truly understand the “middle school brain” and are dedicated to a biblically-minded, age-appropriate classroom. Our Middle School Assistant Principal, Mrs. Sarah Telepak, is always happy to connect: stelepak@cvcaroyals.org.

How do we join the CVCA family?

Applications open October 1. Decisions are based on academic/character records, placement testing, and a family's commitment to Christian education and Biblical values. Note: Some grades fill up quickly, leading to waiting lists. We recommend applying as early as possible.
